We use Olark. It’s a basic chat service--our team handles many chat supports per day. We do not have full service features yet.

We have Olark installed on our site for live chat, but are thinking about turning it off and instead posting a contact form, possibly directly through Freshdesk to keep everything in one place.

With Olark, you place a pixel on your website and it reveals who is using your website; it also lets you connect via chat.

We used Olark in the past, but live chat was difficult to scale for us. We have a free tier, so we had thousands of free users chatting with us everyday, which we simply couldn’t support. Help Scout has a pretty nice API and we’ve built a lot of integrations with it to automatically send users documentation based on what they’re writing us about.

Olark is a lean, focused product that gets the job done. It’s very good, and even better at real-time user data than Google Analytics (in terms of looking at people that are sitting on our site).
Co-founder & CEO - Doughbies
Olark is great for lead generation via conversations on our homepage. If Intercom had their Engage tool built when we needed to add the instant chat tool, we would’ve used it. But at the time we needed it, Olark already had it built. We’ve considered using Engage now, but Olark is well-built and there’s no reason for us to switch at this point.
Co-founder & CEO - SpeakUp
We use Olark for in-app messaging and support, and it’s been great. The live chat is amazing. They even have a feature where your support team member can take control of the end user’s screen to help them, which has been extremely helpful. I don’t know why they don’t highlight this feature more; it’s a great feature. The only potential downside is that since support is done via live chat, if you don’t have someone on your team available to do live chat, it can be a frustrating experience for the end user.
Founder & CEO - Knowtify
We use Olark to communicate with someone sitting on our site. If someone is on our site, a customer success team member can pop in with a chat window and offer support and help to that user. Olark is really old school and in desperate need of an update. We’ll probably, hopefully, move to something like Intercom in the near future. They have all these auxiliary services at Intercom, like CRM features, which Olark does not.
Co-founder - Kinnek
We use Olark for candidates and potential customers, but we actually don’t use it very much. We primarily use email for customer support at this point.
Co-founder - Underdog.io
We use Olark for customer service chat.
