I really like Base! We didn’t need a CRM before we built our back-end system for delivery orders. But since we are also doing wholesale orders right now, it makes sense for our sales team to use a CRM. We just finished the integration with our backend so things push together very well and are in sync. One thing I would like to have is webhooks, so when actions happen, it automatically communicates with our back end.
We are using Zendesk now but that doesn’t mean we’re staying with it forever. I’m learning a lot about Google Apps and making collective inboxes and making groups. It might be able to offer similar functionality that Zendesk does, like embedding live chat into your website.
We started with MailChimp which I was very happy with, but we had problems because of our industry and policies. Then we found Campaign Monitor. I like it because it allows us to set up email campaigns and send transactional emails. It was hard to find a solution that offered both in one platform. MailChimp has Mandrill, which I recently found out merged.
We are migrating our accounting to our own backend system because the cannabis industry is a bit different from other industries, so it makes sense for us to use our own solution. There are some cannabis-specific solutions out there, but we felt that it made more sense to do our own custom and we are rolling and testing it out.
I think Asana is okay, but honestly, I don’t love it. We tried Trello and I didn’t love that either, because I thought it lacked some structure. Asana is almost the opposite - it has too much structure. The general consensus amongst our team is that they don’t love it. It doesn’t have much flexibility. For a team our size, a lot of these tools feel like they don’t work that well. If we had a bigger team, I think these tools would make more sense.
